My first time sewing with knitted fabric
I've been sewing for a little while now and thought it was high time I tackled knitted fabrics! Which if I'm perfectly honest I had been putting off because I thought they would be too tricky. Anyway I knew I had a nice piece of cotton jersey in my stash which I wanted to use so I ordered this book which I thought would help me.
And the book was very useful. If you are a beginner to jersey which I was then it recommended 3 of the 20 patterns to try first. So I chose the Kinder cardigan which I thought would be a really good transitional garment to have in my wardrobe going into Spring.
I traced out the pattern pieces and then carefully cut out my fabric.
I really took my time sewing up my cardigan and I didn't have any problems at all. I was both relieved and excited when it was finished. And here is my finished Kinder cardigan and I could not be more pleased with it.
My jersey fabric had some subtle stripes in it so when I cut out the cuff pieces and neckband I cut them out horizontally instead which I think works really well as a nice contrast.
I particularly like the short length of the cardigan and it is so comfortable to wear. I already have plans to make 2 more which I hope to share with you shortly.
Thanks for stopping by and until next time.
