I recently came across this great video tutorial for making a quilted drawstring bag. I thought it would be a great way to use up some left over fabric from previous dressmaking projects. I had never tried quilting before and I had such fun making this.
The first bag I made was with lovely bright fabrics. I have made skirts and summer dresses from most of these fabrics.
I particularly enjoyed quilting all the squares together. I found this part really relaxing and maybe just slightly addictive!
And here is my finished bag. I particularly like the lining fabric which has a really useful pocket.
I really enjoyed making this bag so much that as soon as it was finished I cut out another one in a slightly larger size.
And here is my finished bag and lining and I used shoe laces for the drawstring.
I really like having crochet/knitting project bags in different sizes so I decided to make 2 more.
For the larger bag I used mainly green shades of fabric and for the smaller bag I used all Liberty prints.
I think I have definitely fallen down the quilting rabbit hole as it's giving me all sorts of ideas for things I want to make!
And here are my finished bags.
Thanks for stopping by and until next time.
