Knitting Hats, Cowls and Gloves

Hello it's been a while and and I wanted to show you a few things I have been knitting recently. I hope you are all well and staying safe in these strange times. We are currently in lockdown 3 here in the UK and we are allowed to exercise outside once a day. As it is the middle of winter I have been knitting hats, cowls and gloves to keep me warm on my walks.

My first make was the violet waffles hat which is a free pattern to download on Ravelry. The double knit yarn I used was James C Brett Aria in the natural colour. If you look closely you can see the tiniest gold sparkles. I knit the hat as per the pattern and it fits perfectly.

I was so pleased with how my hat turned out that I immediately cast on another one. I used a variagated yarn this time that I had purchased from my local Poundland shop and the colour is purple streamers.

I also cast on the free for all cowl which is a free pattern to download on Ravelry which uses worsted weight yarn. The yarn I used was Cascade 220 and the colour is Como blue. Again this was stash yarn and leftover from a cardigan I knitted a few years ago.

I really enjoyed knitting this cowl and learning a few new techniques in the process. I had never tried a provisional cast on before and I used the crochet method. I hadn't knitted an icord edging before either which gives a lovely neat finish. I stuck to the pattern exactly and I was so pleased with how it turned out that I immediately cast on another one.

As soon as my cowl and hat were off the needles I have been wearing them a lot. It has been quite cold recently as we are currently in the middle of winter here in the northern hemisphere.

I have also knit 2 more hats and one has been gifted which was very well received. The yarn I used for both of these hats was Deramores studio dk and the colours were dusky lilac and ocean.

And here is my finished 2nd cowl. The yarn I used was King Cole fashion aran combo and the colour is hint of grey. This yarn was leftover from a jumper I knitted several years ago.

I have also been knitting myself a pair of gloves which are lovely and warm. The pattern I used was autumn stripes which is free to download on Ravelry. The yarn I used was Bergere de France Goomy 50 and the colour is Imprim Gris. As this pattern is for a 4 ply yarn these gloves were not a quick make like the cowls and hats were but I am really pleased with how they turned out. I had only previously knitted mittens before so these were quite fiddly to knit but worth the effort and I love them.

Thanks for stopping by and until next time.
