February Makes

This year seems to be going very quickly already and March is flying by.  I wanted to pop on and show you what I have been making in February. I have been knitting dishcloths and this is a yearly knit along designed by @thekitchensinkshop with a pattern being released once a month. This was February's pattern with the hearts theme.

I have been using lily sugar'n cream cotton yarn from my stash.

And this was January's pattern with an icicles theme. These are lovely patterns and I am really enjoying these landing in my inbox each month.

Following on from the hats I shared in my previous blog post I have been knitting some mittens. The pattern I used was the drifting snow mittens by Jerry Burch. I really enjoyed knitting these and they worked up pretty quickly as the pattern uses double knit yarn. The yarn I used was knitting essentials double knit and the colour was purple streamers. This is a yarn sold in the UK in Poundland so it is very economical.

I knitted another pair using Scheepjes Wanderlust and the colour was Chicago. This is a self striping yarn with large pattern repeats so it took a bit of yarn tweaking to produce a matching pair. These will be a gift so I wanted them to match and I am really pleased with how they turned out.

Last month my husband asked me to knit him a cowl. The pattern he chose was the The Grytviken Cowl by @rockallknits and the yarn was Dermores studio dk and the colour was ebony.

This was a nice mindless knit and it knitted up quickly and my husband was really pleased with his cowl.

I have also been sewing and I decided to make myself a pair of jeans using this pattern. This was a first for me sewing jeans as I had always been put off when I saw how many pattern steps there were on the instructions!  But I had a weeks holiday from work and I just took my time and worked on them a little bit every afternoon.  I made view A which I modified slightly by tapering the legs for a more flattering shape. I did this by using a favourite ready to wear pair of jeans as a guide.

And here they are and I am so pleased with how they turned out.  I'm sure I will be making another pair before too long.

Thanks for stopping by and until next time.
