June Makes

In June I have been doing some gift knitting and I made some men's socks. I used 2.5mm needles and cast on 72 stitches and knit a 2 x 2 rib for 2 1/2 inches. The yarn I used was Drops Fabel and the colour way was winter and blue for the contrast heels and toes.

And here are the finished socks and I am really pleased with how they turned out.

My latest obsession this month has been crochet jam jar covers to use with tea lights.

One led to another and another and this was such a fun and quick project to make.

I couldn't wait for it to get dark so I could light them and see the full effect.

I also made a couple more to use when we are away in our motorhome. My colour inspiration came from this watermelon tray and I love the effect.

June is my Birthday month and I made myself a new dress for the occasion.  I used this tried and tested pattern and some fabric from my stash.

I have made several versions of this dress over the years and each one looks totally different which I really like.  This dress will now go into rotation to be worn over the summer which seems to be the season when I wear the most dresses.

Thanks for stopping by and until next time.

May Makes

May was the wettest month on record here in the UK so it would seem that I had much making time. Well I did make a few things which I wanted to share with you. I crocheted this rainbow wall hanging which I now have hanging in my sewing room. I found the pattern on this blog and knew I had to make one. I used some cotton yarn from my stash in these colours by Scheepjes Catona.

Carrying on with the crochet theme of corner to corner stitch I also crocheted a baby blanket. This will be gifted to a friend soon when she has her baby boy.

The yarn I used was Stylecraft special DK which is my go to yarn for blanket making. It is available in so many colours and being acrylic it is both practical and economical.

The pattern I used was from Inside Crochet magazine issue 83 which I had purchased some time ago. I am trying to use more patterns from books and magazines that I have previously purchased so this baby blanket pattern was just perfect.

I also had a small knitting project on the go and I made myself some shortie socks. These knit up really quickly and are perfect for summer.

I also did a little bit of dressmaking and make myself a couple of t-shirts using this pattern. I used some bright yellow cotton jersey from my stash and I made version C.

Here I am wearing the 3/4 sleeve length version and I also made a 2nd short sleeved version.

I think with all the rain that we had in May I was clearly needing some sunshine with my first and last makes! I will come back later this month and show you what I have been making in June.

Thanks for stopping by and until next time.
